The    Institute    fOR    Perception-Action    Approach

The mission of  IPAA is to promote the use of Perception-Action Approach in the pediatric and adult therapeutic communities through training and scholarship for the advancement of evidence-based practice, both nationally and internationally.

Perception-Action Approach is founded on current theories of learning and development.  Modern principles of neuroplasticity, movement variability, complexity and adaptability are utilized in this approach. It is appropriate for use by pediatric and adult clinicians, without a need for technical or specialized equipment.  Instead, this self-driven approach considers the person and his or her environment as a single, dynamic, interacting system.  Perception-Action Approach utilizes a unique manual guidance technique while integrating skilled environmental set-up to foster cognition.  Current empirical evidence supports the use of this approach and highlights its benefits for persons with movement disorders.
